I used to loathe summer because it gets really, really hot during this season. It’s not just the heat that I hate, it’s the humidity that comes with it. But this year though, it’s been said that we’re having what they call a “wet summer” where there might be more bouts of rain that we’re used to.

Because of the weird change in weather, it’s actually quite cool during the later part of the afternoon unlike the past few years. We didn’t used to be content with the breeze from our outdoor deck fans but now the breeze from the fan, together with the semi-cool wind from threatening rains and storms provide us more time outdoors to enjoy ourselves. We can spend a longer time doing basic activities that any child loves, like kicking balls and playing bubbles, instead of being cooped up inside our room to seek refuge in the coolness of the AC.

Though I know it may not necessarily be good that we’re having this weird weather, at least for now it gives us more time to bond with each other. It also gives us the opportunity to do the things we normally can’t do during the summer because of the scorching heat.

As early as now, I want my daughter to learn how to save. I believe at her age of 3, she now understands the value of money. Why do I think she understands? First, I’m teaching her numbers; from 1 to 999 (but she’s only comfortable until 199 so far) and sometimes she tries to read out numbers in the thousands. Since she can read the numbers, I explain to her why we buy, or don’t buy for that matter, toys that she calls out for when we go the mall to let her know what expensive and reasonable means.

Because of this, we also want her to learn how to save for things she wants to buy for herself. We’ve tried to buy her piggy banks but she just isn’t into the whole “piggy” thing. For this reason, we’re looking into getting personalised money boxes for all of us so she knows that we all try to save up for something we want to buy for ourselves or just to save up for the future.

What better time than now to teach her about money when she received some money gifts from her Godparents last Christmas, right? A great way to boost her counting and saving techniques.

I remember when I was still working, this would be the time when we’d have our Annual Physical Exam or APE. I think it was the year before I left when they had to take me aside from the rest of the group.

Sometimes being taken aside can be quite nerve-racking and this was that time for me, I mean, was there something wrong with my tests that they don’t deem to see me fit? Fortunately, it wasn’t as scary as I thought. The doctors just noticed that I had irregular heartbeats so they strapped me to an ekg. After all those suction cups did their work, they told me I was okay and that I didn’t need to worry about anything. They just had to make sure, they said.

I’m happy that happened one way or the other. The year after I got pregnant and my OB-Gyne also detected the same thing. I was asked to see a Cardiologist but after all the test, he declared me ok, but told me that he just wanted to be present when I gave birth. He did say something about my valves and back flow but it wasn’t alarming. Thankfully, I didn’t have any complications while giving birth.

It’s been years since my last APE, and honestly though I dread being told I’m sick of something, I kind of want to have it again, just because I want to be in perfect health for my little girl. Maybe soon I can have one scheduled, but since I’m no longer employed, this will be out my own pocket. Gotta save up for it starting now then, those things definitely don’t come cheap.

Saturdays and Sundays are the only days I get to enjoy movie nights with JC and Sanjo. Not much calls and emails to answer, lesser work hours, no pesky client meetings, and of course, lesser reviews that need to be written on topics such as effective eczema treatments. I always look forward to movie nights, as this is one of the few hours in each week that we get to spend time together and bond, and also because this seems to be the only time I can keep myself away from the computer (when at home). So what types of movies do I enjoy watching? Almost any type of movie, but mostly horror, thriller, and of course, those cheesy chick flicks. What can I say, I am a sucker for romance!

How about you? What movies do you enjoy watching? Share your favorite movie titles!

I’m joining this week’s Mommy Journey once again! And this week’s theme is to write a love letter for our babies.

Dear Sab and Sanjo,

Both of you have brought me so much joy and happiness. And you both complete me. I could never love anyone as much as I love you babies, and no matter what happens, no matter how much time passes by..always keep in your hearts that mommy will always be here, and that I love you both so very much. Sab, it brings Mommy so much tears and pain that you’re not here with me, but in God’s time I know we will be together again. I love you so so much. Sanjo, you may be a real handful most days, but you give me more happiness than headaches..and for that, I love you very much. I can’t wait for us to be a whole family soon. I’m praying real hard, and I’m doing everything I can to make it happen.

Also, I would like you both to remember that you’re brother and sister, and that you should always respect and love each other. Always.

Lots of hugs and kisses from Mommy.. <3
