You’d be surprised at how many people don’t actually have a household budget. Not having a budget is one of the major reasons that people are living paycheck to paycheck. Not only do they not have a budget, but they don’t keep track of the amount of money they spend, so they have no idea where their money goes. While it’s great to use things like Overstock coupon codes to save money, it doesn’t give you an advantage unless you control all aspects of your financial situation.

When you create your family’s budget, you should start by listing all the bills that have to be paid each month. Include any credit card bills, car payments, utility bills, cell phone bills and your house payment or rent. List the minimum monthly payment, as well as how much money you actually owe. Once you know how much money all of the bills are, start to add in the necessary expenses, like groceries. Finally, list how much money you have coming in each month. It’s important that this amount is more than the amount you have to pay out. If it’s not, you need to cut down your expenses so you can pay the bills.

Once you have created your household’s monthly budget it’s extremely important to stick with it. Give each family member an alloted amount of money they can spend each week. As you pay off some of your debt, and you have a better flow of money this amount can be increased. However, you shouldn’t forget that the goal of every budget is to save money. You need to put a specified amount in a savings account each week. Don’t touch this money unless there’s an emergency that requires it. Before you know it, not only will you have money saved, but you’ll have less debt as well.

Our new place has cemented floors, which isn’t that bad, but considering that I have a one-year-old son doesn’t really make it that child-friendly. I was thinking of getting the floors covered with rubber puzzles, except the floors in the living room and our room. I went to the local hardware store to look at the different flooring options and to see if they have those kiddie puzzle mats available, but what caught my eye was the discount laminate flooring that they offered. It’s not really practical to change our flooring at the moment since we are just renting, but it would be nice to have shiny wooden floors once we have our own house.

I have 2 prepaid broadband kits with me, because I am not sure when PLDT (Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company) will be installing my phone and DSL connection. I have Globe Tattoo and SmartBRO, and both are working OK, just not up to par with that of a DSL connection. But, I still plan to keep them even after I have my DSL installed, for backup purposes. My online job is my bread and butter, so I should be like a girl scout and always be ready with a backup plan whatever happens. I am thinking of buying a flash drive for saving backup copies of files in my laptop, just in case. We never know what can happen, and I pray to God my laptop won’t just die on me, but it’s better to be safe than sorry!

We have just moved in to the apartment and one of the things we lack is a TV. I am buying one next week from my cousin’s wife. She knows an agent from Sanyo who will be able to sell us a slim fit TV for a discounted price. I am really excited, and I have checked out several tv reviews online, and Sanyo is a good choice. Besides, I used to have a Sanyo TV and ref which lasted for a couple of years without any problems. Although I still want to get a huge LCD TV after a couple of months, we just need one ASAP, and we can just use it as a TV in Sanjo’s playroom once we get our own LCD TV.

So I have to work harder, because expenses seem to be non-stop, and I really want to be able to buy new furniture and appliances for our new place.
